Rice Paper
He flipped the switch in the kitchen, and all that remained was the incandescent glow of the library.  The floorboard strained audibly as he stepped in.  His glance now went to the mantle immediately upon every entrance.  There shined an urn with all the brilliant jades and quartz facets one could imagine.  It brought peace to him that he could find such a suitably eccentric home for her and that...

Seat One
The door squeaked open, and he stepped onto the bus out of the rain.  Without even a glance away from the slick floor, he dropped into the first seat with a squish.  He looked nowhere away from the floor as his arms crossed tightly.  He swayed as you would expect any person to sway with more noise inside their mind than out.  The door squeaked and latched back shut, and for just one moment...

The Secret Life of Martha Whittier
She sat in her cube staring at the spreadsheet. Her thoughts were everywhere but on that cursor. The clicking of heels in the office behind her and the tapping of fingernails could only let her think of her madame. She could still feel the corset laces draped across her backside. The scald from her first sip of coffee felt like it belonged elsewhere where it could be more appreciated. She thought...

To have a revolution against a leader and that leader’s military an ocean away seems childish compared to these last few weeks in Africa and the Middle East.  Even if I could command the US military, I don’t know what the right answer would be.  I think a well-written letter to Gaddafi from some world leaders is all that comes to mind.  At this point, though, I doubt he would care.  I...

Centuries of evolving medicine have all but reduced the collection of human organs to a system of anatomical functions which add up to a self-sustaining organism.  The heart — even moreso than the brain — continues to be the once exception of our body that endures science and logic.  We hold it responsible for so much more than circulating blood.

Everything's Changing and Nothing's New

I built a little script that can do Text-to-Speech.  Now I linked it into my third party chat automation.  I don’t have the ability to change the voice — which sucks.  I also don’t really have a quick on/off switch for it yet.
